What an exciting morning exploring several different types of insects. The boys were really interested in getting an up close look and the many specimens that were available. We counted their legs, looked to see if they had wings, and examined them with our magnifying glasses. The boys were able to indulge their naturally curious minds and hands. They asked questions and looked through books wondering which insects were friendly and which might hurt us. We sorted bugs and some of us tried to build our own unique insects. Before the boys arrived this morning I went outside and found a few roly poly bugs for us to observe. Watching them climb, flip over and right themselves was a lot of fun. After a discussion of how we should treat God's creatures many of the boys were brave enough to allow a roly poly walk on their hands. They were quite amused at the way the bug tickled their hands as it walked along. We decided we wanted to go outside for a roly poly hunt. Armed with a small bug jar, we searched for leaves and roly poly bugs to take home and share with our families. We turned over rocks and also found slugs and snails. Aren't you glad we decided to only take a roly poly home? Friday we will be exploring another friendly insect, ladybugs.

Did all the boys wear blue for World Autism Awareness Day? Or just coincidence? :) Comments are closed.

Why Blog? Here you will find little snippets of our days together. When my children were in preschool and would come home I would always ask, "So, what did you do today?". All they ever said was, "Played." That didn't tell me much. I hope this blog will be a place to share what we have done and help you ask more directed questions of your child. You will see first hand just what we do after you kiss your little one goodbye in the morning. It will also be a great place to visit and see just how much your child has grown and learned throughout the year. Archives
