We spent time working on letter recognition, counting leaves, making our own butter and stringing wooden beaded necklaces.
We were a small group today! Only half our our classmates were in today. I hope the other Owls are feeling better soon because they were missed. We spent time working on letter recognition, counting leaves, making our own butter and stringing wooden beaded necklaces. The children also had the opportunity to use a plastic knife to spread their own cheese on crackers for snack as well as to spread their own butter (which we made together) on a slice of bread. It is very empowering for the children at this age to be trusted with a knife and to prepare their own snack. They enjoyed the challenge. We strung beads today with great success and interest. With so few kiddos present it was the perfect time to bring out the best toy EVER! A GIANT BOX! The rest of the morning was spent coloring, climbing in and out, and engaging in pretend play. The box magically became a fire truck, rocket ship, car, and dog house. What great imaginary play, story telling, sharing and cooperation a simple box can bring to a group of children.

Why Blog? Here you will find little snippets of our days together. When my children were in preschool and would come home I would always ask, "So, what did you do today?". All they ever said was, "Played." That didn't tell me much. I hope this blog will be a place to share what we have done and help you ask more directed questions of your child. You will see first hand just what we do after you kiss your little one goodbye in the morning. It will also be a great place to visit and see just how much your child has grown and learned throughout the year. Archives
