Easter Party looks like it will be held at the Raymond Russel Park on the other side of the highway. They have a great playground, walking trails, bathrooms, and covered seating. More information to follow. If you are interested in helping out let me know.
I was so good to see everyone today after a week off. The children were eager to get back into the classroom and spend time with their friends. And we had a lot of new activities planned for the day. We enjoyed a visit from the San Antonio Police Department, tons of new activities to explore, painting with monster trucks, and a giant train city to navigate. We were very busy today. I added Hape's Garden Salad set to the dramatic play this morning and the children had a blast with it. It is good to see that they enjoyed working with healthy foods. They were able to identify the vegetables in the salad and had fun serving their friends and adding salad dressing. There was a lot of really nice sharing going on between friends. Vertical play is very important in promoting future writing skills. That is why the easel is often found in the preschool classroom. Another option to promote vertical play is this fantastic magnetic marble run. I got in on Amazon last year. It is called Tumble Trax Magnetic Marble Run by Learning Resources. A perfect way to encourage critical thinking and problem solving in a fun and engaging way. This would be ideal on the side of the fridge at home too. The children enjoyed watching where the marble would go each time they dropped it from the start. When pieces were bumped and the marble stopped it provided a great opportunity to figure out a solution. There are countless combinations and a variety of straights, curves, and wavy pieces to put together endless fun. Our visit from the police department was another highlight of the morning. The children learned about stranger danger, how to call 911, how important it is to learn your parents names and the street you live on, and to never touch a gun. During art we painted with monster trucks! The children were in for a treat today as a garbage truck made a visit during our playground time! As you can see it got the entire playground's attention. We wrapped up our day with some train play. Trains were a staple in my house for years and we amassed a huge collection which a was happy to share today. One friend asked me if he could come for a playdate at my house to play trains! A wooden train set is a fantastic investment. It provides plenty of experience with problem solving, planning, spacial relations, cooperation, imagination, creativity, memorization, and role play just to name a few. I'm very excited about Wheel's Day. Looking forward to having you join us for a picnic at noon. Pray for sun so we can use the area we have reserved. In the event of rain we can move things to the portico area where we do rain drop offs. The sidewalks up there are all covered so we should be ok. This will be a treat for the kids and a chance to work on those gross motor skills.

Why Blog? Here you will find little snippets of our days together. When my children were in preschool and would come home I would always ask, "So, what did you do today?". All they ever said was, "Played." That didn't tell me much. I hope this blog will be a place to share what we have done and help you ask more directed questions of your child. You will see first hand just what we do after you kiss your little one goodbye in the morning. It will also be a great place to visit and see just how much your child has grown and learned throughout the year. Archives
