This morning we focused on the shapes we encounter every day. We noticed the circles, squares, triangles and rectangles throughout the room and school. Some of us were amazed at how many shapes we could spot. We talked about their sides and corners. And found it very interesting that circles have no corners at all! During art we painted giant circles with vibrant water color paints. Once they are dry we will cut a shape out of the center and use some yarn to wrap a shape. After art several of the children moved on to free time. I took this opportunity to put out a new exploration. I had some gelatin left over from spider week and I had put it in larger molds. Today I placed them on the table with some of our leftover watercolors and pipettes. I wondered who would notice and take an interest. I was pretty surprised to see that the girls were all over it and the boys were deep in block play. The girls worked well to share the materials together and really enjoyed poking the gelatin blocks and injecting color. While the boys... We finished our day with some sticker fun and scissor practice. The more we practice the better we will become! Then I may have thought it funny to put a sticker on my nose and see who would notice. Didn't take long and everyone got in on the joke!

Why Blog? Here you will find little snippets of our days together. When my children were in preschool and would come home I would always ask, "So, what did you do today?". All they ever said was, "Played." That didn't tell me much. I hope this blog will be a place to share what we have done and help you ask more directed questions of your child. You will see first hand just what we do after you kiss your little one goodbye in the morning. It will also be a great place to visit and see just how much your child has grown and learned throughout the year. Archives
