My name is Kristen Landry. It is my privilege to be teaching at Oak Hills Preschool and to work with your children this year. In addition to teaching the Awesome Owls I also teach the Life Skills classes on Monday. For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to teach. I was blessed with some amazing teachers in my life and always felt a calling to the classroom. I know this year we are all going to grow as learners together and that is most exciting!
I have a BA in Elementary Education from Stonehill College in North Easton, MA and a Masters in Elementary Education from Cambridge College, Cambridge, MA. I taught at the elementary level for 8 years up north as well as teaching 3 and 4 year olds at St. George Maronite and Marvelously Made Preschool here in San Antonio.
My husband Bob and I relocated to San Antonio 15 years ago when he accepted a job opportunity. In my spare time I enjoy being a mother to Madelyn (18) and Evan (15), cooking, volunteering at my kids school and crafting with my Cricut. We also love to travel and explore the surrounding area. Madelyn is a freshman at Benedictine College, Atchinson, KS and Evan is in 10th grade.
I believe strongly that everyday experiences can be meaningful learning opportunities. By taking the time to explore a child’s interests deeply, probing with thoughtful questions and listening without judgment we can help foster lifelong learners. My goal as a teacher is to nurture the child’s imagination and creative side and help it evolve into authentic learning.
I look forward to a year of learning, exploring, growing, creating, singing, joy and pure fun!
