This week we will be investigating bats! We learned that bats like to eat bugs and some eat fruit. We learned that they are not birds but rather mammals that can fly. Bats sleep upside down. Bats are nocturnal. And bats use echolocation to help them hunt in the dark. The children were fascinated.
If you are ever interested in viewing some local bats there is a very active colony under the Camp Bullis overpass bridge. The bats emerge every evening at dusk and return home just as the sun rises. My family will often park in the Builders First Source parking lot and watch. What a wonderful experience and so close to home!
Looking forward to more bat fun on Friday! Please remember it is the first Friday of the month and we wear our school shirts!
