Overheard today...
"What could it be? What could it be?"
"Here, a present for you!"
"I wrapped it myself."
"Guess what it is!"
"I need help with this tape!"
"Oh, wow! A block!"
We had a very busy day! The children enjoyed decorating the little class tree, wrapping, unwrapping and rewrapping presents and painting some special "Christmas trees". By far the biggest hit of the day was our workshop wrapping station. The table was full of wrapping paper squares, blocks, tape, and bows. It was so exciting to be able to wrap a "gift" independently! Paper squares were just the right size so all the children had to do was fold it over and tape it together. Tape was both an exciting new element and a frustration at the same time. Some children had no idea what to do with it or how it worked. They loved pulling large pieces and magically holding a gift together. While a few got frustrated with the tape, one or two really took the time to figure it out. How it worked. How you need to pull a little tape out then pull down on it cutting it away from the roll. By the end of the day we had a few children who had mastered the tape roll! As seen in the photos, they practiced and practiced with the tape! You might think that was enough but the part the children enjoyed the most was giving their presents to their friends, opening them and pretending to be in awe that a big block was inside and it was the gift they want most in life. It was so funny to watch their expressions and listen to their reactions every time a friend presented a gift wrapped block! Overheard today... "What could it be? What could it be?" "Here, a present for you!" "I wrapped it myself." "Guess what it is!" "I need help with this tape!" "Oh, wow! A block!" We also painted the most beautiful pinecone Christmas trees. The children worked really hard on them and painted every nook and cranny of the pinecones. I hope they will be a piece to treasure for Christmas' to come. And a few more I just couldn't resist!

Why Blog? Here you will find little snippets of our days together. When my children were in preschool and would come home I would always ask, "So, what did you do today?". All they ever said was, "Played." That didn't tell me much. I hope this blog will be a place to share what we have done and help you ask more directed questions of your child. You will see first hand just what we do after you kiss your little one goodbye in the morning. It will also be a great place to visit and see just how much your child has grown and learned throughout the year. Archives
