Hold your apples way up high,
Hold them up to touch the sky.
Place your apple on your nose,
Now bend down and tickle your toes.
Tap your apple on your back,
Now gently place it in your lap.
We had an exceptionally busy morning. The children all enjoyed new centers focused on apples as well as a very special visit from Mr. Tom the Zoo Man. He brought along several animals the children got to learn about and pet. We enjoyed a delicious snack of apples and graham crackers. As we cored the apples we found the seeds and everyone got a chance to keep an apple seed. Next, we headed over to the story time area to sing a little apple song with some apple stick puppets Tootsie brought us. The song went like this.. (tune: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star) Hold your apples way up high, Hold them up to touch the sky. Place your apple on your nose, Now bend down and tickle your toes. Tap your apple on your back, Now gently place it in your lap. During music class Ms. Rachel taught the class that music can be played fast or slow. She taught the children that fast music is called Allegro and slow music is called Adagio. As different types of music were being played the children ran fast for the Allegro beats and slowly for the Adagio pieces. For art we used our fine motor skills to make a paper apple. We used strips of red paper and tore them into small pieces. Then we used our muscles to squeeze some glue onto a paper plate before adding our torn paper. We topped it off with a paper green leaf. The time had finally come for us to go meet Mr. Tom and his animal friends. Before his arrival we were trying to guess what kinds of animals he might bring. Ideas ranged from flamingos, to cats, to an alligator! In the end we met two snakes, a frog, a few rats, a dove, and a pair of hissing cockroaches named Wilma and Fred. I was incredibly impressed that everyone was receptive to patting each of the animals. The children were very brave and gentle. As exciting as the show was after sitting for a half and hour we were ready to hit the playground and run off some energy. Friday will be another fun filled, apple themed day. We will do a little apple picking game, sort apples by color, and discover the secret hiding in every apple made by God. We might even do an apple taste test to find our favorite flavor of apple. Can't wait to see you Friday!

Why Blog? Here you will find little snippets of our days together. When my children were in preschool and would come home I would always ask, "So, what did you do today?". All they ever said was, "Played." That didn't tell me much. I hope this blog will be a place to share what we have done and help you ask more directed questions of your child. You will see first hand just what we do after you kiss your little one goodbye in the morning. It will also be a great place to visit and see just how much your child has grown and learned throughout the year. Archives
