Our goal today was to play and enjoy our last day to the fullest. We enjoyed a picnic snack with popsicles outside. We sang a bunch of our favorite songs during our last Chapel of the year.
What a fun last day as my "Little Owls" are flying the nest. On to bigger and better things as they grow. It has been an amazing year and I am so blessed that God brought us all together. Our goal today was to play and enjoy our last day to the fullest. We enjoyed a picnic snack with popsicles outside. We sang a bunch of our favorite songs during our last Chapel of the year. Oh how we've grown. First day to the last day of Young Three's! I have loved every minute of my time with this class. Thank you all for sharing your littles with me each week. Thank you for all of the sweet gifts and kind words. I will forever hold a place for this class and each individual student in my heart. Have a wonderful summer and I look forward to be teaching your child again in Life Skills next year. God Bless!
When the children arrived this morning the classroom lights were off, there was a tent scene set up in the Dramatic Play space and there were crickets chirping. It was nighttime at the campground. Everyone dove right in. They were beyond excited to have a campground in our room. The light table became our grill. It was so much fun to watch the boys and girls go camping! For snack we had to enjoy a themed treat, Smores! Not by fire but by mini crock pot. The boys and girls crushed their graham crackers in a plastic bag. Once they were ready they put their jumbo marshmallow on a skewer and dipped it in the melted chocolate. We then put the chocolate covered marshmallow into the bag of crumbs to coat our marshmallow. I think everyone thought that was their favorite snack of the year! Next we were off to the camping experience that was set up for us to explore in the lower mall area. Each class in the school had a time to rotate in during the morning. There was dramatic play, bugs to hunt for, real crickets to observe, reading with flashlights in a dark tent, fishing in a sensory tub and worms in another. Everyone found something to do and really enjoyed their time. Out on the playground we found some large river rocks that we could paint with water. Just a little something extra. I'm having a hard time believing that tomorrow is our last day. This had been such a wonderful class to work with and I love each of these kiddos with all of my heart. I am so proud of all they have learned. These kids are going big places!
I will see you all tomorrow. Our end of the year picnic will be held in the ravine beginning at 12 noon. Bring a blanket to sit on or a few camping chairs and a lunch to share with your child. Let me know if you have any questions. Today was a day like no other! Our schedule was out of sync because of the graduation but we didn't let that stop our fun. After drop-off we went straight to Motor Skills. The boys and girls enjoyed a fun obstacle course. I will send a small video Ms. Amy sent me via GroupMe. On our way down to the classroom for snack the children spotted the Superhero Game Zone out the window. To say they were excited to visit is an understatement. After a quick snack break we headed to the playground for some fun. We made a quick water stop before heading out to the Superhero Game Zone. When the children arrived they were greeted with a door that was covered in "laser beams". We had to carefully enter through the doorway before hitting the real fun. Outside the three's teachers had set up several fun stations for the children to visit at their leisure. There was a tire pull to showcase their super strength, a tub of bubble for their super breath, bean bag toss, tunnel crawl, balance beam fun, water color painting spiderweb, and a trampoline to name a few. Everyone had a blast choosing what they wanted to explore. On the way back to the room we took in a photo booth that made us look like we were flying to the rescue! After all of that excitement we needed some time to rest in the air conditioning. We spent some time exploring our classroom centers. Being superheroes didn't stop though. Several children enjoyed leaping and demonstrating their super jumping skills. Between the heat, humidity, and our superhero excitement I am sure our little heroes will sleep well tonight!
Next week is our final week together. It is a bittersweet time for me. This class has grown so much. The children have developed sweet friendships, excelled in their fine motor development, alphabet skills, counting, and sorting. They have become independent little learners, curious about the world and how it works. They are attentive listeners and their recall skills are wonderful. I could not be more proud to have worked with this group. I will be sad to see them go but look forward to working with them further in Life Skills next year. Next week we will usher out the year with another fun filled few days. Wednesday the children will arrive to a full campground set up in the room. There will be a tent, campfire, bbq, and fishing hole. I can't wait to see what they think! I can't believe the end of the school year is just around the corner! We have had the most amazing year. This week we are celebrating with dress up, dramatic play, and lots of imagination! We left a play dough station out all morning and the children loved coming and going. They made birthday cakes, saved superheroes that were stuck in the mud, and generally enjoyed talking with one another as they played. Everyone enjoyed making some Spider Man web paintings. I like to bring back some of the kids favorite activities during these last weeks. Today we spent time mixing up baking soda and vinegar. Always a huge hit. I was in The Dollar Tree recently and spotted this gem. I remember loving these paint with water pages when I was little. When I found one that was Super Hero themed I just had to pick it up. Actually, I picked up 3 so I have some for the next couple of years. The boys and girls enjoyed painting with water and seeing their paintings come to life. As superheroes we decided to head out and work on our hand strength. We had a great time watering the plants and being good citizens. Friday will be another Superhero celebration. We will spend some time together in the Superhero Game Zone. All of the 3's classes will rotate through during the morning. Plan to dress the part and come ready for fun! Hero and princess costumes are welcomed! See you Friday!
We enjoyed our time together this morning playing with friends and learning about some of the animals you can find in the ocean. We enjoyed another fun themed snack this morning, kettle corn, ocean blue M&M's and graham cracker Goldfish. Another hit with the children! While we ate we listed to "A House for Hermit Crab". Once we finished, we continued with our scissor skills by cutting out and assembling a crab. This was done 100% by the children. Our scissor skills have come such a long way this year. I am so proud of everyone's hard work. After an outdoor session of Motor Skills we returned to the air condition and worked on some lacing skills. The boys and girls had the option to make a necklace or bracelet with ocean colored beads and beads shaped like dolphins, whales, or sea turtles. Several chose to sit and make one for a sibling or parent as well. Next week, we are set to dive into the world of Super Heroes. Some of the girls may be more interested in dressing up as princesses and that is totally fine. I don't mind if the children wear costumes Wed. and Friday as long as they can potty without issue. A change of clothes would be wise in case we get too hot. On Friday we will rotate into the Super Hero room while the older students are graduating. Our dramatic play corner will be transformed into a pizza parlor in honor of the pizza loving Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I'm sure everyone will have a blast!
Enjoy your weekend! We had a wonderful morning learning all about ocean life. For snack we enjoyed a little beach in a cup, graham cracker beach, blue jello ocean, and Swedish Fish swimming inside. It was a hit with everyone! We spent some time talking about the life cycle of the sea turtle. I showed the boys and girls photos of a time my family had saved newly hatched sea turtles on the beach. We also discussed the fact that sea turtles love to eat jellyfish. Next, we decided to put our cutting skills to the test. Each child received a paper with the dome of a jellyfish printed on it. I asked the children to cut the shape out however they saw fit. Then we cut ribbon and streamers to glue on the bottom of the jellyfish shape. The kids did such a great job. Our scissor skills have really come a long way this year! We were also blessed with some blue "Ocean" play dough this morning. The children loved adding their ocean animals. Although this is a wonderful and most beneficial fine motor activity, the language expressed during these play dough sessions is invaluable. We sing, share items, and tell stories together.
This morning we explored the world of bugs. The children also enjoyed some pancakes and waffles in our dramatic play area. During art today we worked on some special Mother's Day gifts. I don't want to spoil any surprises but the children worked hard and produced some beautiful gifts. I'm sure you are going to love them! As the children rotated in to make their special gifts with me the rest of the class was busy building. Ms. Amanda and I both commented how much the class has grown and matured as a whole. If you go back to the early blogs this year I don't think anyone touched the blocks in a meaningful way (not just dumping) until the Spring. Today they were happy building towers together and discussing the parts they wanted added, a bedroom, a set of stairs to get up to the second floor, a tower to see far away. It is a real joy to be able to sit back, listen, and watch their interactions. In Music Class, Ms. Rachel came dressed as a Ring Master and they played carnival games to the tempo of various songs. The children worn masks and loved every minute. I have these two cute Roly-Poly Playgrounds I had purchased for my kids Easter baskets many years ago (Bass Pro Shops) so on the way back from Music we took a little detour out to the preschool garden to hunt for Roly-Polys. After everyone found one we headed back to the room to put them in the playground containers and observe. It was fun to see them run into each other, climb the slides, and fall off the top deck and roll into a ball. I will see you all Friday morning. I will be there for drop off but will need to head out around 10am to decorate for my daughter's prom that evening. If we finish fast enough I will be back in time for dismissal.
Thank you for all of the wonderful Teacher Appreciation gifts and sweet words. It has been a blessing working with your children this year. |
Why Blog? Here you will find little snippets of our days together. When my children were in preschool and would come home I would always ask, "So, what did you do today?". All they ever said was, "Played." That didn't tell me much. I hope this blog will be a place to share what we have done and help you ask more directed questions of your child. You will see first hand just what we do after you kiss your little one goodbye in the morning. It will also be a great place to visit and see just how much your child has grown and learned throughout the year. Archives
