The Owls enjoyed their time with Ms. Rebecca today. We played in the kitchen baking cookies, wrapped gifts, and read stories together. The children are really enjoying the dramatic play area. They are beginning to exercise their imaginations and have fun with pretending vs. just playing with the toys offered. The other day they thought I was crazy when I exclaimed that the cookies they served me were hot and I blew on them and bounced them from one hand to the other. They knew the cookies were not real. At first they thought I was just funny but after a while they too were pretending the cookies were hot. At this early stage of role play they need to be shown how to pretend the toys are real and to make a story up with them. Feel free to have a tea party at home with your child and model how to pretend. We worked on trees today for art. First we painted one. Then we made one and ate it. We concluded our day with a little water transfer. Next week we will focus on babies and birthdays. There will be birthday cakes and cupcakes in the kitchen, babies to wash and diaper in the sensory tub, and many other surprises. See you next Wednesday!

Why Blog? Here you will find little snippets of our days together. When my children were in preschool and would come home I would always ask, "So, what did you do today?". All they ever said was, "Played." That didn't tell me much. I hope this blog will be a place to share what we have done and help you ask more directed questions of your child. You will see first hand just what we do after you kiss your little one goodbye in the morning. It will also be a great place to visit and see just how much your child has grown and learned throughout the year. Archives
