What a fun morning we had! The children had many new centers and games to explore. We spent time talking about we can often tell how someone is feeling by the expression on their face. There were 4 colored monsters hanging on the wall, each with a different expression. We identified the feelings they were showing and then color sorted stickers onto the correct figure. During story time we read an interactive book. There was monster caught in the pages of the book and we had to follow the directions on the pages to try and get the monster out. Everyone had a turn to tickle, blow, spin, or tip the book. It was a lot of fun for everyone. Tootsie brought us a monster headband and asked if we could each make our best monster face! During art we made Symmetry Monsters. We smeared paint on the paper and folded it in half. When we opened our paper there was a beautiful monster. We could add as many eyes as we thought our monster might have. This morning's science experiment was fun for everyone. I was so pleased at how well everyone patiently waited for their turn to blow up their balloon. We did not blow our balloons up with our mouths. Instead we used the chemical reaction from combining baking soda and vinegar. As the bubbles popped we trapped them in a bottle with a balloon over the top. The escaping air helped inflate our balloons. Then we tied them off and drew a monster face on each one. The children chose how many eyes, and teeth their monster had. We finished up our morning with some playground time. We were treated to another visit from the garbage men. We will continue our fun on Friday. We will go on a monster hunt and create our own monster sculptures. I can't wait to see what we come up with!

Why Blog? Here you will find little snippets of our days together. When my children were in preschool and would come home I would always ask, "So, what did you do today?". All they ever said was, "Played." That didn't tell me much. I hope this blog will be a place to share what we have done and help you ask more directed questions of your child. You will see first hand just what we do after you kiss your little one goodbye in the morning. It will also be a great place to visit and see just how much your child has grown and learned throughout the year. Archives
