Our little owls loved exploring all things ice cream this morning. We had some fun with dramatic play, counting, letter matching, color matching, painting, and the hit of the day was a new book. During our art time we painted our own ice cream cones. The children got to choose their ice cream flavor. We then stamped our scoops of ice cream using a real ice cream cone! Of course we tasted one before we used it to paint with. And we topped our dessert off with a cherry on top. The biggest hit of the day was by far a new book I shared with the class. Eric Litwin's (of Pete the Cat) latest, Groovy Joe Ice Cream and Dinosaurs. At the end of the first read through the children were begging me to read it again. Then during lunch someone asked for it a third time and then a fourth! They ran around the playground singing the little song from the book. After hearing the catchy story a few times several children picked up the book and "read" it to themselves and anyone who would sing along. One friend begged his mom to take him to the library on the way home just so he could get his own copy. Friday we are going to attempt to make some homemade ice cream! Should make for a fun day! See you then.

Why Blog? Here you will find little snippets of our days together. When my children were in preschool and would come home I would always ask, "So, what did you do today?". All they ever said was, "Played." That didn't tell me much. I hope this blog will be a place to share what we have done and help you ask more directed questions of your child. You will see first hand just what we do after you kiss your little one goodbye in the morning. It will also be a great place to visit and see just how much your child has grown and learned throughout the year. Archives
