Also, a little reminder... please bring in a brown t-shirt (any shade and if need be a plain white one) so that we can all have matching turkey t-shirts for the Thanksgiving Feast.
We were a pretty small group today but we didn't let that stop us. We enjoyed a morning of owl themed centers. Outside, we collected acorns, climbed the play structures and enjoyed the swings. Back inside we learned a little more about owls. Owls have claws called talons. They used their talons to capture mice and other small rodents. These are their favorite things to eat. We learned that owls eat their prey whole. Their body digests what it can from the prey and regurgitates what is can not (bones, fur). These are called owl pellets. On Friday we are going to be dissecting some owl pellets and we hope to find some real bones to share with you when you come for pick up. During art we made our own owl puppets. We snipped some paper feathers with scissors. Our hands are getting stronger with each scissor experience. We also introduced Thera Putty this morning. This is a great sensory material for building fine motor muscles. I picked mine up at Lakeshore and Amazon. It is a wonderful item to keep in your purse and pull out when waiting for food at a restaurant or similar situation. This stretchy substance provides an elastic resistance and really gives developing hand muscles a workout. Just look at the effort in the girl's faces as they try to pull the putty apart. It is also a fun substance to use when practicing scissor skills. I hope everyone has a chance to rest tomorrow and come back on Friday ready for our Owl Pellet experiment. We will also have all new songs for our November Chapel time. Remember to wear your school t-shirt for the first Friday of the month. There is so much to look forward to!

Why Blog? Here you will find little snippets of our days together. When my children were in preschool and would come home I would always ask, "So, what did you do today?". All they ever said was, "Played." That didn't tell me much. I hope this blog will be a place to share what we have done and help you ask more directed questions of your child. You will see first hand just what we do after you kiss your little one goodbye in the morning. It will also be a great place to visit and see just how much your child has grown and learned throughout the year. Archives
