The children enjoyed their time together this morning. We are learning about rocks and magnets. Our favorite game involved using a chisel and hammer to break open rocks and discover the hidden gems inside. During snack today we ATE rocks! Yes, we ate salt on pretzels, which we learned was a mineral that can be eaten. Everyone thought this was so exciting! After music we returned to the room to explore my rock collection. When I was a kid I loved collecting rocks. We checked out some colorful rocks from Italy and Brazil. Many were crystals or geodes. We looked at lava, mica, granite, amethysts, and even sulfur (which smells like rotten eggs!) Once we finished exploring the collection with our magnifying glasses we decided to create our own geode. The final product should go home Friday. We had some time before the playground and we made a fall sticker collage. Peeling all the backings off those stickers were quite a challenge. We also spent some time with Theraputty. We loved the cooler temperatures outside. Friday we will learn a couple of new chapel songs for the month of November. It is also the first Friday of the month so we will be wearing our school t-shirts. See you then!

Why Blog? Here you will find little snippets of our days together. When my children were in preschool and would come home I would always ask, "So, what did you do today?". All they ever said was, "Played." That didn't tell me much. I hope this blog will be a place to share what we have done and help you ask more directed questions of your child. You will see first hand just what we do after you kiss your little one goodbye in the morning. It will also be a great place to visit and see just how much your child has grown and learned throughout the year. Archives
