Our day was full of surprises! It began with Tootsie bringing us some fun spider web glasses to wear. I wore them as I read spider stories to the children and they were mesmerized! Our snack today was a surprise fine motor workout! We had the opportunity to peel our own oranges! This was quite a challenge but everyone was successful and very proud of their new found skill. Out on the playground we were delighted to find that the church was having an air conditioning unit replaced today. To our great pleasure the exchange took place while we had front row seats to watch. There was an enormous crane in place which lifted the old unit up and over the fence and minutes later replaced it with a brand new 90 ton unit! The crane driver even waved to us! Back inside we continued working on our scissor skills. Today we made rainbow confetti. Making confetti is a great beginner scissor activity. The strips are about two inches thick, which allows for a cut through the paper with each snip of the scissors. This helps keep the cutters attention and frustrations down. Some of the children's older siblings passed by our door as we were working and that motivated us even more to cut like big kids. The fruits of our labor went home in our totes today. During centers we explored new invitations to learning which were set out. We sorted colored spiders, laced webs, retold The Itsy Bitsy Spider with felt story pieces, laced beads, counted spider eyes, matched numbers boxes and lids, and played in the kitchen together. We finished our morning making marble painted spider webs. The finished paintings are beautiful! I am looking forward to Friday when we will have an exciting sensory experiment. We will be "dissecting" spiders.

Why Blog? Here you will find little snippets of our days together. When my children were in preschool and would come home I would always ask, "So, what did you do today?". All they ever said was, "Played." That didn't tell me much. I hope this blog will be a place to share what we have done and help you ask more directed questions of your child. You will see first hand just what we do after you kiss your little one goodbye in the morning. It will also be a great place to visit and see just how much your child has grown and learned throughout the year. Archives
