We sure had fun this morning. At times the room was a hot mess but there was so much learning taking place. We set up ramps all over the room. Then we tested various heights and lengths for speed. We even did drip paintings on inclines for art. At one point I called the children over to the table for a simple science experiment. The boys all came running but the girls were very much into some imaginary play of their own and were not interested. That was fine with me. The girls were enjoying playing house and were so deep into it I didn't want to disrupt their play. So the boys and I experimented with water drops on wax paper to see whose drops would get to the bottom of the ramp first. We noticed that the bigger or heavier the drops the faster they would travel too. Once that was complete we wanted to create a drip painting that we could take home. There were several other offerings available to explore today as well. We finished our morning with a sensory activity. I took out a basket of our favorite sensory activities and the children could choose which they wanted to work with. We had the choice of kinetic rocks, Mad Matter, or Theraputty. Some would work with one for a while, clean up, and then try another. Next week we will be celebrating Valentine's Day. I look forward to meeting with you all Friday for our conferences.

Why Blog? Here you will find little snippets of our days together. When my children were in preschool and would come home I would always ask, "So, what did you do today?". All they ever said was, "Played." That didn't tell me much. I hope this blog will be a place to share what we have done and help you ask more directed questions of your child. You will see first hand just what we do after you kiss your little one goodbye in the morning. It will also be a great place to visit and see just how much your child has grown and learned throughout the year. Archives
