Everyone enjoyed some free choice during center time. During our table time this morning we worked on painting some dinosaurs with dot stampers and cutting some dinosaur cutting strips to bring home. Once we cleaned everything up we read a few dinosaur books together. We determined which books were true and which were made up stories. I introduced the terms fiction and non-fiction. I told the girls that a fiction book is fake or made up and a non-fiction is not fake but rather factual. We proceeded to identify each book on the bookshelf based on the cover pictures as fiction or non-fiction. Everyone did really well. We will continue to try and identify fiction and non-fiction books as we finish out the year. Next we were on to our big science experience. We pretended that we were paleontologists and our job was to find dinosaurs bones. I gave each child a chocolate chip cookie and told them to pretend the cookie was rock and the chips were dinosaur bones. Their job was to remove at least 5 dinosaur "bones" before they could eat the cookie. It was probably one of their favorite science experiments all year! We concluded our dinosaur studies with a fun dinosaur hunt. Ms. Amanda had hidden dino figures in the music room for us to search for. Lots of fun! Next week we will be talking about plants. We will pay a visit to the preschool garden and check on the plant growth. We will also transform the dramatic play area into a bustling Flower Shop. It is sure to be a lot of fun for the girls. And as a bonus, Wednesday we are expecting a visit from Critterville and all of their creepy crawly friends. See you next week!

Why Blog? Here you will find little snippets of our days together. When my children were in preschool and would come home I would always ask, "So, what did you do today?". All they ever said was, "Played." That didn't tell me much. I hope this blog will be a place to share what we have done and help you ask more directed questions of your child. You will see first hand just what we do after you kiss your little one goodbye in the morning. It will also be a great place to visit and see just how much your child has grown and learned throughout the year. Archives
