The children enjoyed another fun bird filled day. This morning we spent time in centers, read a few bird books, spotted a nest in a tree outside Ms. Valerie's window, and watched the most beautiful Vermilion Fly Catcher out in the field during Motor Skills. We topped our day off with a theme inspired treat! After snack we listened to a story called Little Green by Keith Baker. In the story a boy watches a hummingbird fly in the garden outside his window and paints all of his movements. So after hearing the story we put on some hummingbird inspired music and used water color paints to paint like the boy in the story. The kids did a great job! Those went home in totes today. Then we traded in the watercolors for some tempura paints and painted our very own owls! There are some pretty bright owls flying around! Out at Motor Skills the kids had fun watching birds and participating in an egg race. There is a video I will send in Group Me. Once back inside we had fun exploring centers and building in the block center. Our day concluded with a very special treat. We got to enjoy birds nests made with icing, pretzels, and candy eggs. They were a big hit with the kids! Spring is definitely in the air! The weather has been so nice. If it holds out next week we may try a picnic lunch on the playground one afternoon. Next week we will be learning all about worms. And yes we will have real worm visit with us! Hoping everyone is brave enough to get up close and personal with our special visitors next week. See you then!

Why Blog? Here you will find little snippets of our days together. When my children were in preschool and would come home I would always ask, "So, what did you do today?". All they ever said was, "Played." That didn't tell me much. I hope this blog will be a place to share what we have done and help you ask more directed questions of your child. You will see first hand just what we do after you kiss your little one goodbye in the morning. It will also be a great place to visit and see just how much your child has grown and learned throughout the year. Archives
