We had a wonderful morning learning all about ocean life. For snack we enjoyed a little beach in a cup, graham cracker beach, blue jello ocean, and Swedish Fish swimming inside. It was a hit with everyone! We spent some time talking about the life cycle of the sea turtle. I showed the boys and girls photos of a time my family had saved newly hatched sea turtles on the beach. We also discussed the fact that sea turtles love to eat jellyfish. Next, we decided to put our cutting skills to the test. Each child received a paper with the dome of a jellyfish printed on it. I asked the children to cut the shape out however they saw fit. Then we cut ribbon and streamers to glue on the bottom of the jellyfish shape. The kids did such a great job. Our scissor skills have really come a long way this year! We were also blessed with some blue "Ocean" play dough this morning. The children loved adding their ocean animals. Although this is a wonderful and most beneficial fine motor activity, the language expressed during these play dough sessions is invaluable. We sing, share items, and tell stories together. Why Blog? Here you will find little snippets of our days together. When my children were in preschool and would come home I would always ask, "So, what did you do today?". All they ever said was, "Played." That didn't tell me much. I hope this blog will be a place to share what we have done and help you ask more directed questions of your child. You will see first hand just what we do after you kiss your little one goodbye in the morning. It will also be a great place to visit and see just how much your child has grown and learned throughout the year. Archives
