It is Spider Week in the Owl Class and were we busy. We counted spider legs, ate spiders for snack and explored spider body parts with an exciting hands on science lesson. We worked diligently on making spider bracelets. The concentration and fine motor skills that go into threading are impressive to see taking shape in the children. They really enjoyed making them and were proud to wear them. While playing in the block area, one of the girls built a bridge. She enjoyed balancing on it and jumping over it. Soon many of the other children had to try it out for themselves. We finished our day with an exciting dig for spider parts. Yesterday, I made some gelatin molds and put "spider parts" in as it hardened. After reading a book about spiders, I presented the children with a variety of tools to use to extract their spider parts. Overheard as the children explored...

Why Blog?Here you will find little snippets of our days together. When my children were in preschool and would come home I would always ask, "So, what did you do today?". All they ever said was, "Played." That didn't tell me much. I hope this blog will be a place to share what we have done and help you ask more directed questions of your child. You will see first hand just what we do after you kiss your little one goodbye in the morning.
