We started the morning off with center time. There were all kinds of new games set out for the children to explore. We had a lot of fun reading bat books in the bat cave. One of the most popular centers this morning was a peg board counting game. This quickly morphed into a tower building competition. The children tried to see who could build the tallest tower. Several built towers over their own heads but still wanted to build higher. We brainstormed ways to build them taller. We began by building two small towers and then joining them. Then we put the foam bases on the floor so we could reach better. Then finally one child asked if he could stand on the chair to reach the top of the tower. This somewhat risky play was exciting to see developing in front of my eyes. The children worked as a team to come up with several different solutions to the problem. Each solution was helpful. Play truly is the work of children! Next we were off to music. This morning we learned the difference between loud and soft music. After music we returned to our room for a fun bat story. Tootsie brought this fun bat headband for us to try on. We make some pretty cute bats! Tootsie also brought us everything we needed to make BAT SLIME! We all worked hard to empty an entire glue bottle into a bowl before adding the special magic slime solution. Then we sprinkled in some bat confetti and some glitter. It was a gooey good time! After cleaning up we painted a big yellow moon for our bats to fly in front of. Finally it was time to go outside. This morning we had a pretty exciting sighting on the playground. The trash truck came to empty the big trash bins out back. It was so exciting to see that big truck pick up and lift the giant trash bins up and over to dump the trash out. The driver gave us a extra loud honk of his horn on his way out! It was a very busy morning. Friday is sure to be another fun filled morning. Maybe we can build a tower taller than me!

Why Blog? Here you will find little snippets of our days together. When my children were in preschool and would come home I would always ask, "So, what did you do today?". All they ever said was, "Played." That didn't tell me much. I hope this blog will be a place to share what we have done and help you ask more directed questions of your child. You will see first hand just what we do after you kiss your little one goodbye in the morning. It will also be a great place to visit and see just how much your child has grown and learned throughout the year. Archives
